Who gets included in the Silktide Index?

The Silktide Index includes more than just Silktide customers. Learn how websites are selected and how to request additions or updates.

Written by Daniel Towers

The Silktide Index is not limited to Silktide customers.

We include organizations from a wide range of industries and sectors around the world, regardless of whether they use Silktide. The goal of the Index is to provide meaningful accessibility benchmarks and comparisons across industries, so we aim to include any website that fits within one of our supported categories.

Does being a Silktide customer affect inclusion?

No.

Being a paying Silktide customer does not affect whether an organization is included in the Index, how it is scored, or where it appears in the rankings.

The Index is designed to provide an independent benchmark of website accessibility across industries. Organizations are included based on their relevance to a category, not whether they are Silktide customers.

How websites are selected

Websites in the Index are grouped into categories, such as universities, local governments, retailers, utilities, and many others. Each category allows organizations to compare their accessibility performance against similar organizations.

If an organization belongs in a category that we track, it may be included in the Index whether or not it uses Silktide.

Keeping the Index up to date

We regularly review and update the websites included in the Index. However, websites and organizations change frequently. Domains are updated, organizations rebrand, new organizations are created, and others may close or merge.

While we work to keep the Index as accurate as possible, some information may occasionally become outdated.

Requesting changes

If you notice that a website is missing, has an incorrect name or URL, or belongs in a category that we do not currently track, we'd love to hear from you.

You can contact us to request:

  • A new website be added to an existing category

  • An existing website's name or URL be updated

  • A new category be created

  • Other corrections to Index data

We review all requests and consider them for future Index updates.
