What are funnels?

Funnels in Silktide Analytics are a powerful tool that can help you understand the journeys your users take through your website.

They provide actionable insights into how users experience and navigate your website, the content that is keeping your users engaged, and whether you're achieving your set goals.

Why use funnels?

Funnels allow you to measure the return on investment (ROI) of your campaigns and to identify sub-optimal user flows on your site by measuring drop-offs through the desired journey.

By tracking the user journey from the initial page or action step to the final conversion, you can identify which flows are most effective and where users are dropping off in the process. This information is crucial for optimizing your website and marketing efforts.

How to set up funnels

Setting up funnels in Silktide Analytics is a straightforward process. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Navigate to funnels

Open the analytics property you'd like to set up a new Funnel for, then go to 'Funnels' under 'Engagement'. Here, you'll see a table showing any existing funnels and their conversions and conversion rates.

Step 2: Create a new funnel

Select 'New Funnel' at the top of the funnels table. Give your funnel a name and start adding your steps.

Step 3: Add steps to your funnel

The steps in your funnel represent the journey you want your visitors to take on your website. For example, you might want visitors to view your homepage, then click on the contact page, fill in a form, and then download a PDF.

To add a basic page view step, select 'Add Step' and then 'View Page'. Enter the URL of the page you want visitors to view. Repeat this process to add more steps, using the appropriate step type for your user flow.

Step 4: Save and view your funnel

Once you've added all of your steps, make sure to save your new funnel. You can now view your live funnel! The funnel will show you how many visitors completed each step and where drop-offs occurred.

Remember, the goal of using funnels is to identify where the biggest drop-offs occur so you can optimize and improve these areas. As you make changes to your site, you can track the performance of your funnels over time to see if your changes are leading to improvements.

Privacy and funnels

Just like the rest of Silktide Analytics, our funnels feature respects user privacy. We are a cookie-free platform, which means we prioritize user privacy without compromising on the quality of analytics data.
