Page selection criteria

If you haven't set up custom testing rules for your website report, Silktide will automatically select the web pages to test within the specified page allowance for a report.

The selection criteria are:

  1. Pages with shorter URLs are tested first. For instance, example.com/page will be prioritized over example.com/page/subpage.

  2. When URLs are of the same length, pages are tested based on their appearance order on each page. For instance, links at the top of the homepage are examined first, followed by those further down, and so forth.

Changelog

In general, this method tends to focus on top-tier pages before delving deeper into a site, by including higher-traffic/higher-priority pages and avoiding potential spider traps for our crawler, such as a list of item filters on a search page.

This strategy was implemented on 3rd March 2020. Before this date, pages were queued based on the sequence in which their links were identified.
