Dashboards allow you to get an overview of the key factors that you would like to use to manage the performance and improvements of your web estate.

There are 4 main components of dashboards within Silktide:

  • Dashboards: Dashboards will update with every retest, and can be used to see how well key metrics are currently performing.

  • Snapshots: Snapshots won’t change over time, so they can be used to see how the web estate was performing from a certain point in time. They can be used as a reference for future improvements.

  • Schedules: Schedules allow you to create and deliver snapshots on a regular basis.

  • Templates: Templates provide the structure for dashboards and snapshots. Templates define the text, charts, and tables that appear on dashboards or snapshots using a given template.

Dashboards screen

The Dashboards screen allows you to see your Recently viewed dashboards and snapshots so that they can be accessed again easily. You can search through the recently viewed dashboards and screenshots using the search field in the top-right corner of the widget.

Underneath the recently viewed widget is a list of dashboards that have been created on the account, along with when the dashboard was created and by whom. The table can be reordered using the table headers, and the magnifying glass in the top-right corner can be used to search for specific dashboards.

Selecting the image or name of the dashboard will allow you to access the dashboard and view its contents or make any changes.

Don’t forget, that the different dashboards that are visible may be limited depending on the permissions that have been set for your user profile, or on the dashboard itself.

Snapshots screen

The Snapshots screen shows a list of all snapshots that have been created on the account, along with when the snapshot was created and by whom. The table can be reordered using the table headers, and the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner can be used to search for specific snapshots.

Selecting the image or name of the snapshot will allow you to access the snapshot and view its content. As a reminder, the data shown in a snapshot will not change over time. As a snapshot will not update, it can be used to compare your current scores against their values from when the snapshot was created.

Don’t forget, that the different snapshots that are visible may be limited depending on the permissions that have been set for your user profile, or on the snapshot itself.

Schedules screen

The Schedules screen shows a list of all schedules that have been created on the account, along with when the schedule was created and by whom. It also provides details regarding when the schedule is due to be run next, and when it was last run. The table can be reordered using the table headers, and the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner can be used to search for specific schedules.

Selecting the name of the schedule will allow you to see the resulting dashboard if the schedule was to run right now. When viewing a schedule, the edit button will allow you to make changes to the schedule's settings.

Don’t forget, that the different schedules that are visible may be limited depending on the permissions that have been set for your user profile, or on the schedule itself.

Templates screen

The dashboard templates screen shows a list of all dashboard templates that have been created on the account, along with who created the template. This screen can also be used to create additional templates. The table can be reordered using the table headers, and the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner can be used to search for specific templates.

Selecting the name of the template will allow you to view the template and make any changes. Templates provide the structure for dashboards and snapshots. Templates define the text, charts, and tables that appear on dashboards or snapshots using a given template.

Don’t forget, that the different templates that are visible may be limited depending on the permissions that have been set for your user profile, or on the template itself.

Next steps

Now that you have an understanding of what dashboards can do, you can start creating your own dashboards. Though it’s important to remember that all dashboards must start with a template, so if you haven’t already got one that suits your needs, go and create a template first.
